Steps
Done | Start by soaking the rice and urad dal in water separately for about 4-6 hours. After soaking, drain the water. |
Done | Grind the rice and urad dal into a smooth batter separately. Mix both batters together, and add semolina to it. Let it ferment for 4-6 hours or overnight. |
Done | Add salt, asafoetida, and cumin seeds to the batter. Adjust the consistency with water if needed. The batter should be thick yet pourable. |
Done | Heat a non-stick griddle or dosa tawa and lightly grease it with oil. |
Done | Pour a ladleful of batter in the center and gently spread it to form a round uttapam. |
Done | Sprinkle chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies, bell peppers, and coriander leaves on top. |
Done | Drizzle some oil around the edges and cook until the bottom turns golden brown. Flip and cook the other side until it's done. |
Done | Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar. |
