French Toast with Banana and Walnuts

Keep this simple recipe to prepare quick breakfast, brunch or even dessert for your tea time at home. Savory toasted bread perfectly match with sweet maple syrup. Fresh bananas and crunchy honey coated-walnuts add the whole taste of this French toast.

MAPLE SYRUP

In a small saucepan, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar and water, then bring to a boil.
Let it boil for two or three minutes or until completely dissolved, stir occasionally.

Remove from heat and set aside to cool for 4 to 5 minutes. Add in maple extract and stir well.
Set aside and let it cool completely.

THE FRENCH TOAST

Slice the whole grain bread into eight equal slices, if you have the unsliced one.

Whisk in together eggs, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, baking powder and milk until well blended.

Heat the butter in a frying pan or skillet over medium heat.

Dip completely each slice of the bread in the egg mixture and let it soak for 30 seconds.

Place each slice of soaked bread in a skillet or frying pan. Let it cook for 3 minutes or until golden brown. Flip and cook another 3 minutes or golden brown for another side.

Remove from heat and transfer to a plate.
Slice bananas into around half inch thick and chop walnuts into smaller pieces.
Combine chopped walnuts with honey in a small bowl, make sure the walnuts are coated evenly.

Top the toasted bread with bananas slices and and honey coated-walnuts and top with maple syrup.
