Banana Waffles

On cold or rainy Sunday morning, start your day at home with this quick breakfast recipe.

The waffles

In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
Whisk in the eggs, milk and melted butter until well combined.

Ladle some of the batter into the waffle maker and cook for about 5 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
Follow the instructions of your specific waffle maker for the batter amount and time to make the waffle.

The chocolate sauce

In a medium size saucepan, place the sugar, cocoa powder, flour and salt.
Add 1/2 cup of milk and whisk to combine into a thick paste.

Add the remaining milk and bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, and continue whisk to blend thoroughly.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer gently for about 5 minutes, and keep whisking.
Remove them from heat and add the vanilla extract.

To serve, place the waffles on a plate and serve with banana slices, and top with hot chocolate sauce.
