Bechamel Sauce
- 1 tablespoon
- 2 tablespoons Ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Pumpkin puree
- 1 cup Lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon
- To taste Shallot
- To taste
Directions
Basically the recipe to cook Croque Monsieur is same with Croque Madame. The difference is there is no added fried egg on this recipe. Find the Croque Madame recipe for your comparison.
Steps
1 Done | THE SAUCEIn a saucepan melt 2 tablespoons of the butter over medium high heat. |
2 Done | Whisk in milk and bring to a boil, and continue whisking. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes or until slightly thickened. |
3 Done | Whisk in a pinch of salt, ground nutmeg and black pepper, also grated Gruyere cheese. Constantly whisk until the cheese completely melted and the sauce is smooth. Remove from the heat and set aside. |
4 Done | THE SANDWICHES |
5 Done | Lay the slices of bread on a baking sheet. |
6 Done | Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over medium low heat. Add the sandwiches and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until both sides turns into golden brown. Remove the sandwiches from heat and return to the baking sheet. |
7 Done | Preheat the boiler over high heat. |
8 Done | Spread evenly Bechamel sauce on top of each sandwich, and broil the sandwiches for 3 minutes or until the sauce is bubbling and browned evenly. |
9 Done | Remove from the heat and transfer to plate and serve immediately. |
