Let’s put aside the argument regarding the origins of Eggnog, either it’s British or American. In this recipe, the eggnog prepare without any cooking process. If you are sensitive with raw or uncooked eggs, you can cook the eggnog. Then you can worry free about the Salmonella effect.

Separate the eggs, the yolks and the whites in two different bowls. Cover the egg whites bowls and refrigerate until needed.

Use a whisk or an electric mixer to beat egg yolks until light, and gradually add the sugar. Continue whisking until the sugar completely dissolved and fluffy.

Add the milk, heavy cream, grated nutmeg, vanilla extract and bourbon and whisk until well combined.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for about 1 hour, and serve.

If you prefer to use egg whites, whisk the reserved egg whites until whites form stiff peaks.
Then transfer the beaten egg whites to the chilled eggnog bowl and gently fold or stir the egg whites into the base, and serve.
